Friends of Pathways has a formal partnership with the USFS to collaborate on design, construction and stewardship of local trails for all users – hike, bike, horse, and ski. We’re committed to providing easy year round access to trails in order to maintain our high quality of life in Jackson Hole.
Get pumped! Friends of Pathways is bringing a modular pump track to Jackson Hole Middle School as part of bike skills week. Open to every one of all ages and abilities from dawn to dusk on Tuesday, May 21 and Wednesday, May 22.

Every year for the last 4 years Friends of Pathways visits Jackson Hole Middle School to teach bike safety in an assembly setting and outside using a bike skills course. The curriculum focuses heavily on e-bike safety. Friends of Pathways organizes this fun and educational program for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in response to growing public concern regarding pathway safety, specifically as it relates to e-bike usage and middle school students.
Friends of Pathways has recently hired Aaron Nydam as our Bike Safety Coordinator who assists in our efforts to provide pathway etiquette and e-bike education to our youth, visitors, and residents alike.
These photos are from this week’s bike safety assembly, and next week FOP will be back at Jackson Hole Middle School to teach bike skills outside with kids on bikes.
We love how many kids ride bikes to school and encourage them to do so safely.
The snow this week didn’t do us any favors drying out the trails. A few more things are opening up and passable but there is still some lingering packed snow and drifts in the shade. As you get excited for summer come by the Bike Swap this Saturday at The Hub Bicycles from 10-1. Otherwise enjoy some much deserved sunshine this weekend!

Great news: @tetoncounty and the @townofjacksonwy were recently awarded $600,000 from the Federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. This plan will prioritize projects and policies to improve safety and mobility for all users of the region’s transportation system. The aim: To prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. This plan will guide the future development of the pathway and active transportation networks across our community.

Modernizing Mobility for West Jackson is a @tetoncounty and @townofjacksonwy project that aims to create a forward-thinking plan that addresses bicycle and pedestrian improvements; upgrades to roads, sidewalks, and intersections; and outlines conceptual layouts for future connectivity in the study area of South Park Loop Road, High School Road, Middle School Road, and Northern South Park.

Trail Conditions for 6-18-21
News & Announcements, Trail UpdatesCrews were busy this week clearing trees and cleaning drainage around the system. We hit Black Canyon on Monday which has only a few small snow drifts left near the top of Mt. Elly. We covered Wilson Canyon and West Game to get them in shape for the Cache Creek race and then got up to the pass and brushed Arrow and Phillip’s Pass. Then we began building some new features for the Blair Dr. Bike Skills Park that will get installed next week. We are also still digging along on the Adams to Wilson connector that we have tentatively named the A&W trail. This connector will allow users to safely access the USFS trail system on the east side of the highway from the neighborhoods on the west side of the highway via the old Adam’s Canyon cattle tunnel. We will be hosting a volunteer dig night this Thursday from 5-8 to help finish this trail. Come help out and meet at the top of Adam’s Canyon Dr., bring close toed shoes, work gloves, and water!

News & Announcements, Trail UpdatesIts been a busy week on Teton Pass. The crews cleared Arrow, Snotel, the Ridge, Ski Lake, and upper History. There were lots of big trees down from heavy snow and winds over the winter. Almost all of the trails are dry with a few lingering snow drifts. We will continue to work on upper Black Canyon and Phillip’s Pass next week. If you see trees down on the trail use the trail maintenance request button on our site to report them and if possible send a picture of the tree. Some are easy and take a few minutes to clear, and others like the 4 tree pile up shown above take a few hours. Around Snow King there are some trail closures tied to the construction of new ski runs and infrastructure. Make sure to check their information posts before heading out on the trails to get up to the minute info on whats open and closed. We had a successful National Trails Day improving the connector trail from Adams to Wilson Canyon. About 35 hearty volunteers helped us rebench the user trail and we will continue working on it over the summer. Feel free to follow the pin flags and help to burn in the trail to access the pedestrian underpass to the pathway at Adams’s Canyon. We hope this will provide safe access from the south Jackson neighborhoods to the public lands and trails on the east side of the highway. Have a great sunny weekend out on the trails!

News & Announcements, Trail UpdatesTeton Pass is drying out and crews have been clearing trees this week. We got Phillip’s Canyon up to the Phillip’Pass junction and the Ridge Trail up to rock world. The ridgelines and shaded trees are still holding drifts so if you are intrepid you can posthole your way through. We also worked on prepping the Adams to Wilson connector trail for National Trails Day tomorrow. This user created trail that will provide safe access from the neighborhoods on the west side of the highway to the national forest on the east side of the highway via the old Adams Canyon Cattle Tunnel. We will meet at Adams Canyon Dr. and have bagels and coffee before and brats and beverages after. Come out tomorrow morning from 9 to 12 to help out!

News & Announcements, Trail UpdatesFinally some sunshine! Snow King and Munger are in great shape after the rains and the trails on Teton Pass are drying out quickly. Crews cleared up Black Canyon to the snow line, and hit Big Rocks, Crater, and lower History. The lower reaches of Phillip’s Canyon and the Ridge trail are also dry along with Parallel. Get out this weekend and enjoy some sunshine and plan on coming out on National Trails Day on June 5th to help us complete the Adams to Wilson connector trail. More info can be found HERE

News & Announcements, Trail UpdatesThe trails in the Snow King and Munger Systems are 99% dry with only a few lingering snow drift on windy ridges. Crews have cleared both systems for downed trees and have started to clear on Teton Pass. The Teton Pass trails are melting out and are usable from the lower trailheads. Crews cleared up Phillip’s Canyon and the Crater to History trail loop. TFR also reported dry conditions on the Parallel trail. There is still a good amount of snow at the Phillips/Jimmys and Teton Pass trailheads so the upper access to the trails may still be a few weeks away. With rain in the forecast for the next few days try to make sure you wait until the paved roads are dry to go use the trails. That is usually a good indicator of when the trails have drained and absorbed the moisture and you won’t be getting muddy and damaging the trails.
