Friends of Pathways has a formal partnership with the USFS to collaborate on design, construction and stewardship of local trails for all users – hike, bike, horse, and ski. We’re committed to providing easy year round access to trails in order to maintain our high quality of life in Jackson Hole.
What a weird year so far! The trails are melting out much faster but are still muddy in spots when the rain and snow moves through. A big thing to remember this early is that the Winter Wildlife Closures are still in effect for 2 more weeks until May 1. When you are out exploring remember to stay out of the spots in purple on the map and keep your dogs leashed in the orange areas. Good spots to check out when the sun is out are south of town on the S 89 singletrack and down into Game Creek. Sidewalk and Putt Putt and lower areas around the base of Snow King are also a good bet. Check out the new connector trail from the Trail Creek pathway up to the bottom of Black Canyon as well. Munger Mountain is also mostly dry and a good early season option. Don’t forget to enjoy the pathways and to get up into the park to use the inner road this month when it is only open to pedestrians. As you get out and explore shoot us an update if you see any down trees or other problems with the Trail Maintenance Request button at the top of our page. Have fun and be safe out there!

Steve never stops.
When riding your e-bike, remember to follow traffic signs and stop at the stop signs.
Don’t be like Steve!
The bike lanes are back, and earlier this year thanks to the warm weather. Early season conditions exist - like some sand and winter road debris, and there is a detour around Garaman Park. So be careful on your first ride of the season and remember to:
1. Be nice, Say hi!
2. Keep right, pass left
3. Ring your bell when passing
4. Be pro, go slow around others
5. Stop at the stop signs
Many thanks to @tetonparksandrec , @townofjacksonwy , and @tetoncounty for getting these lanes in early this year.
🙌 The North Highway 89 Pathway is set to open this weekend! 🙌
Thanks to this year’s warm, early-season weather, the pathway north of Jackson along Highway 89 is opening nearly three weeks ahead of schedule, giving the community an early start on spring biking, walking, and outdoor recreation.
Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation, in coordination with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is preparing the pathway to open this Saturday, April 11.
Pathway users are asked to use caution and give wildlife the right of way as animals continue to migrate off the National Elk Refuge. The public is reminded to provide wildlife plenty of space and to continue honoring wildlife closures until they are lifted May 1.
🚨 Garaman Pathway Safety Upgrades To Close Pathway Through Mid-May ⚠️
Beginning April 7 through mid-May, the pathway through Garaman Park will be temporarily closed while important safety improvements are installed. As pathway use continues to grow — including increased e-bike activity — the @townofjacksonwy and @tetoncounty are making thoughtful upgrades designed to help everyone travel safely and comfortably.
The project will introduce features that naturally encourage slower speeds through the park, including a small roundabout, rumble strips, pavement markings, and chicane gates that guide cyclists through a gentle S-turn. These tools help create a calmer environment where walkers, runners, families, and riders can share the pathway with greater confidence.
During construction, the pathway will be closed from just west of the Flat Creek Bridge near the Josie’s Ridge trailhead to the tunnel at the south end of Hidden Ranch. Clearly marked detours will direct pathway users via Powderhorn, Meadowlark, and the east side of US 89 / West Broadway. Cyclists using sidewalks along US 89 should please yield to pedestrians. Access to Garaman Park will remain available via Crabtree Lane, and access to KC Ridge, Josie’s, and Forest Service trails via Elk Run Lane will resume once seasonal wildlife closures lift on May 1.
We are grateful to the Garaman Family’s Charitable Foundation for supporting this investment in community safety. These improvements reflect our shared commitment to a pathways system that works for everyone — helping keep Jackson a place where active transportation is safe, convenient, and enjoyable.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as this work is completed.
Cache Creek winter trails report for Thursday March 5, 2026: As you can imagine the warm temps and another round of rain have made the icy spots icier and more prevalent and melted out a lot more terrain, especially in the sunny spots. In short, it’s pretty sketchy out there!

Trail Conditions for 5-23-25
News & Announcements, Trail UpdatesThe Cache Game trail system is almost totally dry! A few snow patches on the north side of the divides and lingering snow in the ski area is all you should find. Teton Pass is also opening up to around the elevation of Crater Lake. This week we cleared lower Blacks, Big Rocks, lower Ridge, lower Phillip’s Canyon, and the Wilson and West Game trails. We hired a crew from the Montana Conservation Corps who is working in Wilson Canyon, West Game, and Munger this week. They are doing drainage, rebenching trail, cutting back brush, building turnpikes and a new bridge. Have fun and enjoy the sunshine out there!
Trail Conditions for 5-16-25
News & Announcements, Trail UpdatesWe are a little further along than normal for dry trails this time of year. Game Creek is dry up to the West Game junction and you can find long stretches of dry trail above that with just a few snow patches in shady areas. Upper Josie’s Ridge is dry to the ski area and Ferrins has just a few patches of snow left below the saddle. Wilson Canyon was dry up to the Leeks junctions but muddy above that. Hagen is still holding snow above bridge 3 and the are a few patches left on the end of Putt Putt. The lower Munger trails are almost all dry and the trails on the Munger state land are in good shape too if you are looking for a new place to explore. Teton Pass is slowly melting from the base up, you could explore up from the base on most trails until you hit snow. The Crater and History trails are almost snow free up to Crater Lake and the Old Pass road is clear to there as well. The Parallel trail is also riding and Harlan is out there doing some work at the very bottom, look for a new extension there this summer. The crews this week cleared the Munger state land, Wilson Canyon, History, Crater, and Kelly’s trail. We are getting some projects ready for a Montana Conservation Corps crew who is coming for a hitch starting next Wednesday. Look for them out in Wilson Canyon, West Game, and Munger. If you are out and about dodging rain on the trails this weekend try to wait til the roads in town are dry. That is usually a good indication of how long it takes the trails to dry. If you are getting mud on your shoes, bike, dog, or horse turn around and avoid damaging the trails. Have fun out there!
Trail Conditions for 5-9-25
News & Announcements, Trail UpdatesSunny warm days have the trails melting out quickly. This week crews cleared the Munger Trails and cleaned drainage features. The state land trails are dry and the lower Munger trails on the USFS are mostly passable with a few lingering snow drifts. We also cleared Hagen, Putt Putt, Game, Beaver Ponds, lower Wilson, Josies, Kellys, KC, Lindas, Champa, Shade Monkey and Sink or Swim. Most things below Sink or Swim are dry with a few snow patches, and you can get up to bridge 2 on Hagen before you hit snow. If you are looking for a bike to enjoy the trails and pathways this summer come out to the Bike Swap at The Hub this weekend. You can drop off bikes through 7pm this evening and then the swap is from 10-1pm tomorrow. It should be a warm sunny weekend to enjoy the trails so get out there!
Trail Conditions for 5-2-25
News & Announcements, Trail UpdatesThe winter wildlife closures have lifted and the trails are melting out. You can explore up Game Creek and Putt Putt with only a few snowy spots left. The trails below Sink or Swim between Josie’s Ridge and Snow King are dry too but the Hagen side is still holding snow in the north facing trees. Also the Munger State Land trails are dry and a good place to explore now that the county has a lease there. We will be working to improve these trails over the next few summers. If you haven’t been out there park at one of the three pull outs on Fall Creek road to the north of the main Munger trailhead. The first is at the cattle guard and then there are two more on the east side of the road by some fence posts. It is a beautiful area with great view of Munger Mountain. Looks like we might finally hit 70 degrees this weekend so get out and enjoy the trails!
Trail Conditions for 4-25-25
News & Announcements, Trail UpdatesTrails are starting to melt out and with a 60 degree Saturday coming up it seemed like a good time to start trail reports for the season. The usual things are dry, the first part of Putt Putt and Sidewalk, the S 89 Singletrack and the Game Creek Connector. Sadly A&W is not open this year as the land managers reversed their decision. Elsewhere you can explore trails that are outside of the winter wildlife closures but be prepared to meet snow and mud. Hopefully with warmer temps and the May 1 opening there will be much more to report next week. As you get out and explore use our trail maintenance request button on our website to report any down trees or other problems. I have been poking around doing dirt work and drainage and will keep clearing and opening trails next week. Also if you need some early season stoke come out to the Bicycle Film Festival on Thursday May 1 at the Center for the Arts at 5:30pm.
