Trail Conditions for 5-16-25

,

We are a little further along than normal for dry trails this time of year.  Game Creek is dry up to the West Game junction and you can find long stretches of dry trail above that with just a few snow patches in shady areas.  Upper Josie’s Ridge is dry to the ski area and Ferrins has just a few patches of snow left below the saddle.  Wilson Canyon was dry up to the Leeks junctions but muddy above that.  Hagen is still holding snow above bridge 3 and the are a few patches left on the end of Putt Putt.  The lower Munger trails are almost all dry and the trails on the Munger state land are in good shape too if you are looking for a new place to explore.  Teton Pass is slowly melting from the base up, you could explore up from the base on most trails until you hit snow.  The Crater and History trails are almost snow free up to Crater Lake and the Old Pass road is clear to there as well.  The Parallel trail is also riding and Harlan is out there doing some work at the very bottom, look for a new extension there this summer.  The crews this week cleared the Munger state land, Wilson Canyon, History, Crater, and Kelly’s trail.  We are getting some projects ready for a Montana Conservation Corps crew who is coming for a hitch starting next Wednesday.  Look for them out in Wilson Canyon, West Game, and Munger.  If you are out and about dodging rain on the trails this weekend try to wait til the roads in town are dry.  That is usually a good indication of how long it takes the trails to dry.  If you are getting mud on your shoes, bike, dog, or horse turn around and avoid damaging the trails.  Have fun out there!
